Rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel.  I graduated from Norwich Free Academy then went on to study Fine Art at The Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford.  In 2004 I attended Albert’s School of Hair Design  in Niantic.  Two weeks into cosmetology school, I was hired at That Look as a receptionist/assistant, before moving on to become a licensed cosmetologist.  One of my favorite things about working at That Look is having 17 other stylists who are always more than willing to help each other out, teaching different techniques and sharing tricks they've learned throughout their careers.

Hours that I am available:

Wednesday   2-8                         Thursday 11-4                                 Friday 12-6
Saturday  9-3

Some classes I have attended are:

David Stanko In Salon two days Color Exploration Oct. 2007

Sam Villa Training DVD at That Look, On Camera Stylist Sept. 2007

In Salon Chris Baran & Kris Sorbie Design and Color 2006

In salon Chris Baran Design 2005

            In salon Kristy Valenzuela 2004

Paul Mitchell Color Intro I & II with Scott Kimbal 2004

            Graham Webb Spring Trends 2004

 Some of my favorite things:

Hair care and Skin care product needs are different for each client and

need to be considered individually and reconsidered seasonally.

These are my current favorites:

Favorite shampoo: Extreme

Favorite conditioner: Clear Moisture

Favorite styling/finishing product: Glass

Favorite gel/wet styling product: Hardwear

Favorite hair spray: Quickdry

Favorite skin care product: Sleepwear

Cosmetic that you can’t do without: Eye shadow or eye liner

Best hair styling tip: Don’t use too much product because a little goes a long way

Favorite Color: Dark Purple

Best beauty secret: Always use a heat protectant when styling your hair.

What sets me apart from the rest of the talent:   My background in art and design helps me daily in my career as a stylist, whether it is sculpting a new haircut or painting on color.  Familiar principles of design and laws of color apply.
